About Damanjeet

Sat Sri Akal, Salaam, Namaste everyone!

My name is Damanjeet, and I was born and raised in Delhi. I completed my Bachelor’s in Commerce from Delhi University and began my career in the Audit Industry, where I worked for four years. However, I soon discovered that my true calling lay in education. In 2015, I transitioned to teaching, starting with grades 11 and 12 in Chandigarh, India. My move to Vancouver brought me to Simon Fraser University, where I completed my certification to become a teacher in BC. Since then, I’ve taught in the Surrey School District for over 3.5 years, enriching my approach with diverse cultural perspectives and a deep commitment to fostering creativity and community in my students.

I recently moved to Seattle, but my roots remain deeply connected to the Punjabi language and culture. Joining Punjabi Pathways has been a meaningful step in my journey, as it allows me to share my passion for the Punjabi language and culture. Growing up, speaking Punjabi was second nature to me, but I’ve come to realize that, for many children here, communicating in their mother tongue is challenging. As an educator, I feel a strong responsibility to bridge this gap, helping young people connect with their roots. Teaching at Punjabi Pathways has given me the joy of fostering a sense of pride and community in students as they embrace their cultural heritage.
