Can I register my children in the same class?

We try to keep like aged children together and we will try to accommodate siblings if absolutely needed. However, our preference is to keep our classes to similar aged children. For example, we try to run Level 1 classes for 4-6 year olds and 7-9 year olds. After registering, please send us a message with your children’s names so that we can keep them in the same class.

Do you offer a family discount?

Unfortunately, no. Each class only has room for a certain amount of students and the fee for each seat in a class is the same. Teachers have to assess and provide report cards for each student in the class.

FAQ's About Classes

What sets Punjabi Pathways apart from other language classes?

Punjabi Pathways offers sound educational pedagogy which drives our instruction.  Our curriculum is designed by teachers with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a PhD with a focus on language. The Punjabi Pathways team truly believes in creating a safe and engaging community in our classrooms where learners can take risks. Our teachers are education professionals who know how to engage and motivate a variety of learners.

Does the class schedule change for special holidays and events?

As our students are from all over the world, it is very difficult for us to accommodate class changes for the various celebrations that arise throughout the year. If you are going to miss a class, we ask that you let us know. Since our sessions are only 8 weeks long, we attempt to schedule classes around major holidays, but that is not always possible. If you have to miss a class, send us a message letting us know.

Do you record classes?

Our classes are interactive and it is difficult for students to get the full value of the class from a recording. Also, there are privacy issues that arise from recording sessions. If you do miss a class, there is material provided which corresponds to each lesson.

Do students get feedback?

Yes, at the end of each session, each student is provided with a report card which indicates which learning intentions were met.

Will my teenager like this class? They are usually reluctant to try to speak Punjabi!

We totally understand! We are professionals who know how to “hook” your child into learning. Very often we can engage your children through interactive games such as Kahoot! Ask you child if you do not know what a Kahoot is!

How long are classes?

Primary classes are 25 minutes long. Youth and Adult classes are 55 minutes long.

Do you provide learning materials?

Yes, each class comes with learning materials. For the Primary Classes, we offer a Parent Package that offers some guidance for the learning intention for the week. For Youth and Adult Classes, we offer Student Packages that provide homework practice for the concepts covered that week.

What if I am unable to attend a class?

If you are unable to attend a class for any reason, please contact us via email before your scheduled class.

Do I need to sit with my child?

For Primary Classes, we highly recommend that you sit with your child so that you know the focus of each class for practice throughout the week. Also, you will be able to see and hear the teacher model how to practice with your child throughout the week.

Can siblings sit in on a class?

No, because we try to cap our classes to no more than 8 at the Primary level and no more than 12 at the Youth level. Our teachers assess each child individually and each student is provided with a report card at the end of the session.
