Sat Sri Akal! I’m a native Punjabi speaker raised in Chandigarh, India. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and I also hold a Master’s degree in English Literature.
I have always been interested in understanding Punjabi culture and language in depth. Growing up, my parents would encourage me to speak Punjabi more often since it was not a language taught in my high school. When I moved to Canada in 2019, I started working with the Surrey school district. One thing I realized while working here was the need to make people feel proud of their Punjabi heritage, especially the language. That’s what motivated me to join the Punjabi pathways team. This gives me an opportunity to help kids and adults embrace the beauty that lies in the Punjabi language.
