About Raj
Growing up in Abbotsford there was one rule in our house and that was to speak Punjabi. My parents encouraged us to speak Punjabi at home and I am so thankful because it allowed us to speak Punjabi with confidence. It makes life easier when we travel to India or communicate with the elderly in our family or community. Also, being able to speak Punjabi has allowed me to communicate with the families of my students thus making life easier for them and me.
I completed my B.A. from the University of Fraser Valley with a major in History and a minor in Geography. After I attended the University of British Columbia to complete my Bachelor of Education. I have taught in private schools in B.C and Ontario and have been teaching in the Surrey School District for over 10 years.
As an educator, I first and foremost strive to make my students feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment so they can thrive and build their confidence. I am excited to work with Punjabi Pathways and the families on this platform since learning to speak a variety of languages, especially your mother tongue, can be an asset.
