About Sukhmani
Sat Sri Akal, Namastay, Salaam!
I am a native Punjabi Speaker who was born and raised in Punjab, India.
I completed my Teacher Education Program at UBC in 2018 and hold Masters degrees in Science and Education. During my teaching practicum, I volunteered to teach Grade 12 Punjabi for 4 weeks. This experience made me realize my desire to continue to foster an enthusiasm and appreciation for the Punjabi Language with the next generation. I currently work with the Surrey School District as a full-time secondary school teacher. My current assignment includes teaching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) curriculum in an accelerated program along with some online instruction.
Teaching is my life’s passion, and via Punjabi Pathways I want to help the younger generation learn how to read, write, and speak this beautiful language.
I believe that anyone can learn a language given enough time and practice, and I’m willing to be creative to help all students benefit from our lessons.
